Barcelona’gov is a network of research and advanced training centres formed by three of the most outstanding university centres in Barcelona as well as the local City Council. The partnership of these four institutions ensures a high-level training offer on government, public policies and governance aimed at politicians and professionals specializing in public policies in general and more specifically, in local policies and management.
Barcelona City Council
The Barcelona City Council promotes a new approach to local policies and governance. This shift in governance, with increased transparency and open to all citizens, is a fundamental element for constructing a fair and democratic Barcelona. In this respect, a transition towards a new model of progress for all the people who live in the city is cemented on the alliances forged by the Council with the citizens, institutions, entities, companies and associations that share this conception of public policies.
In this new phase, in which Barcelona wants to become a point of reference in alternative forms of governance, with and for the citizens, the study and research of public policies that encourage and promote dialogue with citizens are indispensable. This is the challenge faced by Barcelona’gov, where the Barcelona City Council, together with the IGOP, IBEI and the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the UPF intends to contribute to the high-level training of professionals in city government.
